Commission Testimonials
"It was unbelievable how much it looked like him. It was surreal! Her quality of work, price and quickness is incredible! I highly suggest Rochelle’s art work to anyone looking for a piece." Metieke (owner of Stubby)
"The picture by Rochelle captured my girls in an amazing way. Shows the love and sparkle in their eyes that I cherished every moment I had with them and always will. Losing both of them in 8 weeks nearly destroyed me. But this beautiful portrait helps me always remember them forever in the best way possible." Kelly (owner of Bailey and Zelda)
I have four pieces of Rochelle’s artwork, and they are all very special. Rochelle’s detailed work perfectly captures the emotion of the subjects in the portraits, especially in the eyes. Stacey (owner of Julie)
How it Works
- Get in touch to let me know what you are interested in and send me your photos
- We work together to determine what you would like and choose the best photo(s) for the portrait
- Clear, high resolution reference photos ensure the best quality for your commission
- The supplied photos can be either print (these will be returned with your portrait) or digital, and I am happy to receive as many as you would like to send
- Please ensure they are either your own photos or ones that you have permission from the photographer to use
- I realize that many portraits are memorials and high quality photos may not be available. In some cases I will still work from poor quality photos, but please understand that the portrait may be slightly less detailed
- I will provide you with a quote and then you can secure your spot with a 50% booking fee. Once this is received, I can begin the commission
- My portraits are created using artist quality, lightfast coloured pencils and archival acid free paper
- Progress updates may be shared on social media (if permitted by the client). Upon completion of the work, photos will be emailed for final approval
- The remaining balance plus shipping is due upon completion of the artwork and prior to shipping
- The estimated time for completion can be up to eight weeks. If you have a specific time requirement, please let me know and we can work towards it
- The price is determined by paper size and complexity of the piece. Your portrait will be a good size within the paper area. The price list below is a guideline based on a single subject with no background, and does not include framing or shipping. A background or additional subjects can be added for an additional charge. I will provide you with a quote once we have agreed upon the details. Changes after this time (like adding a background or additional subject) will incur further charges

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of commissions do you accept?
Most of my commissions are animals or people, but I am open to other subjects as well. (One commission was an airplane)
Can I include more than one subject in a drawing?
Yes, additional subjects can be added and are generally an additional 50% per subject. Pricing may vary depending on complexity of the piece and will be confirmed at time of order. Backgrounds can also be added for an additional fee
What type of photo makes a good portrait?
- Clear, high resolution photos ensure the best quality for your portrait
- Good lighting is important. The best lighting is natural light from an overcast day where you don’t get dark shadows
- Ideally choose photos that are a good representation of your pet and how you picture them
- Is there a favourite pose or expression that comes to mind when you think of your pet?
- Do you like their mouth open or closed, head straight or tilted, ears up or down?
- The best photos are undistorted (unless it’s a funny pose that you love). Pictures that are taken at or just below eye level give better proportions than ones taken from above (especially with horses)
- For pets, try to choose photos that provide an accurate representation of the fur and eye colour. If the chosen photo does not have the right colours, then it’s important to have additional photos that do show the right colours
How do I place a commission order?
- Get in touch to let me know what you are interested in and send me your photos
- We work together to determine what you would like and choose the best photo(s) for the portrait
- I will provide you with a quote and then you can secure your spot with a 50% booking fee. Once this is received, I can begin the commission
What payment methods can I use?
Payment can be made with PayPal, cash, or e-transfer (the latter for Canadian clients only)
Is shipping included in your price and do you ship internationally?
Shipping is not included in my prices. Once the piece has been packaged and weighed, I will send you an invoice for the shipping. The drawing will be shipped after I receive the final balance including shipping. International shipping can be arranged and any customs charges or additional fees will be the responsibility of the client
How long does it take for a portrait?
The timing of the portrait depends on the complexity of the drawing and my current workload. Please allow up to 8 weeks for completion. If you have a specific time requirement (like a birthday or other special occasion), please let me know and we can work towards it
Can I make changes after the artwork is completed?
One minor revision is included. Additional revisions may incur extra charges
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
The Client may terminate the commission request within 7 days of the initial deposit payment. In such cases, the deposit will not be refunded but may be applied to future commissions. If the Client cancels the commission after work has begun, the booking fee will be forfeited. If the Artist must cancel the commission due to unforeseen circumstances, the deposit will be fully refunded to the Client
